Beginner Classes

Start Quilting —Bernina of America and Alex Anderson have developed a beginning quilting class for Patchwork Plus to use in our store.  In this class, students will learn all the techniques needed to complete a quilt; rotary cutting, piecing, borders, quilting, and binding.  The purpose of this class is to offer students a basic introduction into the wonderful world of quilting.  Included in the cost of the class is the book "Start Quilting with Alex Anderson."  Class Fee:  $50.00 plus supplies.

Introduction to Hand Quilting —Learn how to hand quilt your heirloom by working on a pillow top or small wall hanging.  During this class, you will sandwich your pillow top and work on perfecting your quilting stitch.  Class Fee:  $25.00 plus supplies.

Advanced Beginner Instructor, Barbara Cline

Machine Quilting Sampler —This class is designed to teach you the most basic techniques of machine quilting.  We will be working on a skillbuilder panel.  You will learn machine quilting techniques such as echoing, quilting with a walking foot, free motion quilting, and stippling.  Class Fee:  $25.00 plus supplies.

Serger Table Runner —Learn how to flatlock using decorative threads.  We will be making a simple table runner using decorative threads, making it look like you put cording between your piecing.  Come have lots of fun learning a new technique with your serger.  It does not have to be a Bernina serger, but you must be able to do a flatlock and use decorative threads on your machine.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

The Knook —Now you can knit with a crochet hook.  Using a cord and a knook (new crochet hook) you can crochet and it looks like you have knit the project.  Come learn a fun, new method of crocheting.  Must know how to crochet to take this class.  Class Fee:  $25.00 plus supplies.

Aquamarine Ambiance —Venitta McCall is coming back!  Join Venitta for a 2 day embroidery class.  She will lead you through the construction of 2 quilt blocks from the Aquamarine Ambiance. You will learn multi-hooping techniques, use of templates for placement, as well as proper stabilizers to use for quilts.  Venitta is a Bernina educator with years of experience on several different embroidery machines.  Class Fee:  $100.00 plus supplies.

Patchwork Classes

Keep Quilting with Alex Anderson Bernina has developed a 2nd level class to follow up the "Start Quilting" class.  You will complete a Friendship Star quilt during this 4 week class.  Students will review all the techniques needed to complete a quilt-rotary cutting, piecing, borders, quilting, binding, and labeling-while adding new skills.  Class Fee:  $45.00 plus supplies.

Kaleidoscope Symphony Don't you just love the look of kaleidoscope?  Learn how to make easy 4-patch kaleidoscope centers to use in quilt blocks. We will make 3 different sizes for a total of 9 different blocks.  You can make a throw, table runner, or a queen size quilt.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

T-Shirt Quilt Have you been saving up all those t-shirts wondering what you were going to do with them?  Join me as we cut apart our t-shirts and sew them into a wall hanging or quilt that you will enjoy for years to come.  There are different settings to choose from and different block sizes.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

Rapid Fire Hunter's Star This is a quick easy way to piece the Hunter's Star.  There are no "Y" seams, you just cut, sew, trim, cut, sew, and trim.  This would make a wonderful wall hanging or a great gift.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

Triple Expresso With just 3 fabrics and 3 blocks, you can choose one of 3 quilt layout options.  The class will consist of making 2 different blocks, the flying geese and half square triangle block.  With some "expresso" and homework you should have a complete quilt top by the end of class.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

Dahlia The Giant Dahlia is a classic design, so now they have come out with a Not so Giant Dahlia. This is the one we will be working with.  You can make your dahlia into a multitude of colors or focus on as few as two colors.  We will be working with Marti Michell's templates, so it becomes much simpler.  Class Fee:  $40.00 plus supplies.

Bursting Forth This is a pattern that will be in Barbara's second book.  It is a triangle-based layout.  Techniques taught in this class include using organdy overlays, strip piecing, and sewing "Y" seams.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

Rose of Sharon Finishing Class If you took the first class and now you are ready to place the blocks into a quilt, then I am ready for you.  Barbara C designed a pattern for setting these blocks:  the 5x7 designs as well as the ones done in the jumbo hoop.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

Tuscan Garden Table Runner —Use the latest exclusive design collection from Bernina to create this gorgeous table runner.  Enhance any setting with rich embroidered medallions, borders, and floral motifs combined with decorative stitches.  Learn techniques for design placement, hooping, and stabilizing.  Options will be given for multi-hooping or using the jumbo hoop.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.

All Skill Levels Instructor, Phyllis Reeves

Duck Says Quack Learn how much fun machine applique can be with the embroidery machine.  Make either the soft book or lap size quilt using these farm animals.  The pattern comes with a CD to print out the templates as well as the embroidery tack down stitches.  Any embroidery machine is welcomed but you must have taken your guide class and be familiar with your machine.  Class Fee:  $35.00 plus supplies.
