Winter Patchwork Classes
Saturday Sampler Applique —This class is for the Saturday Sampler students who want to learn how to machine applique on their Saturday Sampler quilt top. We will be working with 4 blocks, 2 applique and 2 finished blocks. At the end of the class you will know how to applique and sew the blocks together. Class fee: $30.00 plus supplies.

Shenandoah Star –Use a pattern created by Barbara Cline to make a wall hanging or a Christmas tree skirt. This pattern uses strip piecing and the triangle shapes are cut from the strips. It is a quick and easy project. Class fee: $30.00 plus supplies.

China Blue —Learn how to piece diamonds and a large 8 point star. For this class the option of using our Bernina Embroidery machine will be available. This makes a lovely winter quilt.

Kool Kaleidoscope –This Kaleidoscope quilt is something different from anything you have ever tried before. Each quilt you make turns out different. Now you can learn to make this dynamic quilt. Don't let the angles and symmetry fool you. This easy-to-make quilt is made from strip-pieced sets of fabric strata. Class fee: $40.00 plus supplies.

Denim Raggy –Have you always wanted to make a denim blanket? This reversible project will not only use up denim scraps but combines denim with 3 other flannel colors, making a delightful project. We will be using the ragged edge technique with topstitching star patterns on denim to create the quilt. There is no quilting or binding on the quilt, so when you are finished piecing and fraying, your blanket is done. Class fee: $30.00 plus supplies.

String Quilt –Pull out the scraps and make a quick quilt. You will be cutting strips from your stash, then foundation piecing on fabric and trimming the blocks to a perfect size for piecing. Fast, fun, fabulous. Class fee: $35.00 plus supplies.

Pieced Pineapple –The Pieced Pineapple Block is one of the 'complicated' blocks that, on first glance, appears to have many different trapezoids of all different sizes going in several directions all at once. Well, forget that method. We're going to use a simple strip piecing method and 'cut' the trapezoid shapes as we go to build our blocks. Included also are the instructions for an oiginial pieced border. Class fee: $35.00 plus supplies.

Baltimore Album –This is a series of two hand applique classes where we will learn some of the basic designs used in a Baltimore quilt. The project is four different blacks consisting of two sprays and two different wreaths. We will be using a strach technique for making our applique pieces and using Mimi Dietrich's Baltimore Basic book for our patterns. We will concentrate on stems, leaves, berries, rings, roses and the cutest dimensional rosebud ever. This is a good class to take if you are considering doing the applique by hand on the Saturday Sampler. Class fee: $35.00 plus supplies

Crazy Shortcut Quilts –In this class, you will learn a simple quilt-as-you-go technique for creating crazy quilts in hours instead of months. Use your stash of fat quarters and the decorative stitches on your machine and have lots of fun creating your crazy quilt. You can make any size quilt. You must be comfortable with using a rotary cutter and a 1/4" seam. Class fee: $35.00 plus supplies.

Rapid Fire Hunter's Star –This is a quick, easy way to piece the Hunter's Star. There are no "Y" seams, you just cut, sew, trim, cut, sew, and trim. This would make a great gift. Class fee: $30.00 plus supplies.

Paper Piecing –Learn how to paper piece by making an 18x18 wall quilt. This will teach you how to make perfect points. Alex Anderson has developed a beginning paper piecing class. Her technique and directions are clear to follow and easy to learn. Included in the cost of the class is the book Paper Piecing with Alex Anderson. Class fee: $40.00 plus supplies.

Fun & Done Quilting —Once this quilt is pieced, it is quilted! This quilt uses a quilt-as-you-go technique. The piecing method allows you to complete the quilting as you assemble each block. Sew the blocks together and you are done. Different patterns and sizes are available for you to choose from. Class fee: $35.00 plus supplies.
